Easy to understand if you're familiar with Mao's history. Here's a quick rundown:

Back in school, he never found anything he loved or had dreams for the future until he started singing and got into bands, and soon decided that's what he wanted to do for a living. Against his parents' and teachers' objections, he started spending all his time on band activities after graduating from high school (he was already involved before graduation), working part-time jobs to save up. Once he had enough money, he bought a one-way plane ticket to Tokyo, packed a duffel bag, and went off with no job, no housing, no friends waiting for him. The rest is history.

First two verses describe his schooldays, not knowing what to do with his life.

My guess is cigarette smoke, you know how students sneak onto the rooftop to smoke.

Because graduation is approaching and delinquent students like him still have no plans for the future. High school graduation in Japan is a pretty important turning point, you have to decide whether you're going on to college, enrolling in a specialised school, or dropping out to get a job etc.

It's the first time he's so impassioned about something, and unlike other interests that faded with time, this one turned into "ideals" i.e. dreams and ambitions.

Because being in a band seems glamorous on the surface, but he's not sure what it truly entails.

The first line = other people's (most likely parents, teachers) response when he told them about his dream. Obvly they're telling him to stop being unrealistic and do what everyone else is doing, but he found a different kind of advice in those words: "Don't just talk idealistically, learn from others (in the band scene)." In other words, nothing will happen if you keep talking, to make your dream come true you need to do something about it. Sooo he took their advice his own way and became determined to work for his dream.

Everything else is pretty straightforward. Romaji = already matched with the full song, it's accurate.

One last thing about the title; Mao said that when he left Fukuoka for Tokyo, he decided that he wouldn't look back, wouldn't go running back to his family if things didn't work out, so it was a one-way route of sorts - he could only keep moving forward. In the years that followed, even when he was so poor he was living on expired bento sets from the convenience store, he never asked his family for assistance. 8 years later, SID was formed.
